The 12V battery and the hybrid battery are different
Every hybrid car has two batteries. The high-voltage (HV) hybrid battery drives the electric motor. The 12V auxiliary battery is a normal-sized car battery that powers the lights, locks, screens and computers, and switches the hybrid system on.
When people say their hybrid battery is dead, it is usually the 12V battery. The car will not unlock properly, the dashboard stays dark, or the car will not go into READY mode. The HV battery can be in perfect condition.
We test and replace the 12V auxiliary battery. We do not repair or replace high-voltage hybrid battery packs; that work needs a specialist hybrid workshop or the dealer.

Do not touch orange cables
Orange cables in a hybrid carry high voltage. Never open or disconnect anything connected to them. If you need to jump-start a hybrid, use the 12V jump points the owner’s manual shows, or call us.

Do you replace the hybrid battery itself?
No. We replace the 12V auxiliary battery only. If the high-voltage hybrid battery needs work, you need a hybrid specialist or the dealer. We can test the 12V battery first so you know which one has the problem.
Can a normal car battery go in a hybrid?
Usually not. Many hybrids need an AGM battery with a vent tube, in a size that ordinary cars do not use. Fitting the wrong battery in the boot or cabin can be unsafe. We match the battery to your model and year.
How long does a hybrid 12V battery last?
The 12V battery in a hybrid is not used to crank the engine, so it can last as long as a normal car battery or longer. Heat and long periods parked shorten its life. A test tells you how much life it has left.
How much does a hybrid 12V battery cost?
